Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
Cellco Partnership, doing business as Verizon Wireless (“Licensee”), provides wireless, residential, and business telecommunications products and services. Licensee requests permission to encroach into an aerial area to collocate on the Dominion Energy power pole located in the public right-of-way near 1708 Todds Lane to install a 0.9 cubic foot antenna, an 11.35 cubic foot equipment cabinet, and a 1.0 cubic foot power panel, totaling 13.25 cubic feet, all areas more or less (“Licensed Improvements”) as illustrated on Exhibit “A” attached to the accompanying Encroachment Agreement. Licensee demonstrated its authority to collocate on the Dominion Energy pole.

The request was routed to staff and local utility companies. While none have any objection, staff recommends conditions be placed on the approval, in additional to the standard conditions, that (i) Licensee coordinate with the City’s Information Technology Department to submit an intermodulation study to verify the Licensed Improvements will not interfere with the City’s existing towers; and (ii) no guy wires be installed. Therefore, pursuant to §§ 34-90 to 34-92 of the City Code, staff recommends approval under the conditions outlined in the accompanying Encroachment Agreement.
