Briefing on the Community Plan Update Process
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
The current Community Plan was adopted in 2006. The Hampton Community Plan is a combination of the City's Comprehensive Plan and Strategic Plan. A strategic plan typically follows a shorter time horizon (5-10 years) and deals in a small number of specific issues, while the comprehensive plan has a long time horizon (20-25+ years) and covers all broad policies issues relevant to the City. Hampton is ready to undertake an update to the community plan, which means both the strategic and comprehensive plans need to be updated. Staff propose kicking off with the strategic plan update, and following with a comprehensive plan update once the strategic plan is complete. This presentation outlines the porposed process, timeframe, and core team for accomplishing this task.
