Consideration of appointments to Hampton Employees Retirement System Board (HERS)

 

Purpose

PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:

 

UPDATE FOR MARCH 27, 2019, MEETING - Since legislative items 19-0121 and 19-0122 will address this topic, Council is requested to remove this item from the agenda.

 

UPDATE FOR FEBRUARY 27, 2019, MEETING - Staff is requested deferral of this item until March 27, 2019.

 

UPDATE FOR JANUARY 9, 2019, MEETING - Staff is requesting deferral of this item until February 27, 2019.

 

Terms on this Board are for two years.

 

Dr. Martha Milo-Avery completed her first two year term as the Hampton City Schools Retiree Representative on April 30, 2018.  She is eligible for reappointment to another two year term which will expire on April 30, 2020.

 

Carolyn Bowers has completed a partial term as the Hampton City School Board's Representative.  She is eligible for reappointment to a first full two year term which will expire on September 30, 2020.

 

Michael Monteith and Jim Wilson have both completed their second two year terms as City of Hampton Retiree Representatives.  Council is being asked to appoint two other City of Hampton Retiree Representatives to serve for two year terms expiring on September 30, 2020.

 

Pete Peterson retired July 1, 2017 leaving a vacancy as the City Manager Representative on the HERS Board.  Council is being asked to appoint a City Manager Representative Appointee.

 

There is also a vacancy on this board for a citizen and that term is also for a two year period so an individual appointed at this time would serve until September 30, 2020.
