Briefing On Proposed Pilot Volunteer Code Inspector Program
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
In July 2018, the Virginia Code was amended to give the City of Hampton the ability to utilize trained, qualified, and supervised volunteer code inspectors to enforce specific sections of the City Code and Zoning Ordinance. This presentation provides an overview of City staff's proposed pilot program to implement a system of volunteer code inspectors. The program identifies a Level I and a Level II inspector, and proposes a training program for those inspectors. Finally, an implementation schedule is provided.
