Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:

The City of Hampton--Division of Fire & Rescue will host the 2019 Women in Public Service (WIPS) Conference September 19-20, 2019. The conference has been hosted by its founding city fire department, Portsmouth Fire, Rescue & Emergency Services for the past 10 years. However, starting in 2019, with the Hampton Division of Fire & Rescue (HDFR) the conference will be rotated among other member jurisdictions. Henrico County will take the helm for the 2020 conference.

The Virginia Department of Fire & Rescue (VDFP) provides needed financial support for conferences and seminars sponsored by Virginia-based non-profit organizations that further the education of fire and emergency services personnel throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The Conference and Education Assistance Grant is administered by the Virginia Department of Fire Programs with recommendations by the Virginia Fire Services Board. All grants for conference and education programs are approved by the Executive Director of the VDFP. The Conference and Education Assistance Grant comes from the Commonwealth's Fire Programs Funds as outlined in the Code of Virginia (38.2-401).
