Title

Resolution to Accept $7,275 in Revenue Funds from an Assigned General Fund Balance Account Dedicated to the Women in Public Service (WIPS) Conference and Appropriating Those Funds to the Fire Department Budget to a Service Specifically for the WIPS Conference

Purpose

BACKGROUND

The Women in Public Service (WIPS) Conference has been hosted by its founding city and fire department, Portsmouth Fire, Rescue & Emergency Services for the past ten (10) years. It was decided to have other jurisdictions share the hosting responsibilities. This year the City of Hampton--Division of Fire & Rescue will host the 2019 WIPS Conference. Next year it will move to Henrico County.

IMPACT

There is no monetary impact to the City of Hampton. Funds generated by the conference will be used to support the expenses for the conference. Any remaining funds will go to the next jurisdiction to help host the 2020 WIPS Conference (in this case, Henrico). Portsmouth has left over funds which will come to Hampton for this year's conference expenses.
