Title
Briefing on the Development Services Center and Building Permit Fees
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
The Development Services Center (DSC) was created in 2012 to serve as a one-stop-shop for citizens, businesses, and developers looking to make improvements to buildings and private property within the city. The DSC is responsible for coordinating, reviewing, and permitting all manner of projects ranging from new, multi-million dollar buildings to home improvements. The DSC continually monitors its operations and procedures in order to best meet the ever changing needs of the community.
It has been approximately 21 months since our last briefing/work session with City Council on the Development Services Center. This briefing will share with City Council the most recent information relative to the performance of the Development Services Center and brief City Council on efforts to update the building permit fees to decrease review times, incentivize higher quality submissions, and strengthen the partnership for success while remaining competitive.
