Ordinance to Amend and Re-Enact the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Hampton, Virginia by Amending Section 2-2 Entitled, “Definitions” Pertaining to the Definition of Improved Surface
Purpose
Background Statement:
While adopting new regulations related to parking on residential lots, City Council requested staff look into opportunities to provide greater flexibility in materials uses, especially relating to pervious pavers and similar systems, which in some cases permit grass to grow through them.
The proposed language amends the definition of improved surface. The current definition of improved surface excludes porous paving systems that allow grass to grow through them. This amendment would update the definition to allow for consideration of those systems when specific criteria for their design are met.
