Resolution to Accept and Appropriate $10,735 in Donated Funds from the Unassigned Fund Balance and Amend the Hampton Division of Fire & Rescue's FY18 Budget to Reflect this Appropriation
Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
Hampton Division of Fire & Rescue receives donation funds from citizens and organizations for various purposes. Usually, donations given to the stations by the City's citizens are used to purchase items for the fire station that make the 24-hour stay at the station more comfortable. The items purchased must be useful for and available to all three shifts. Examples of items purchased in the past are: dishes, pots/pans, bakeware, glassware, radios, TVs, grills, picnic tables, exercise equipment, etc. Some donations that come from other organizations may be dedicated to the annual Fire Expo & Chili Cook-Off, for summer Camp Fury and/or Camp Prospect, for the Fire Prevention public education section and sometimes the Citizen's Fire Academy. These donation funds are deposited into the Undesignated Fund Balance.

WHEREAS, Hampton Division of Fire & Rescue received $10,735 in donations (FY17 & FY18);
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia accepts and appropriates $10,735 in donated funds from the Unassigned Fund Balance and amends the Hampton Division of Fire & Rescue's FY18 Budget to reflect this appropriation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia authorizes the City Manager, or her designee, to take the necessary actions to implement this request.
