Resolution Authorizing the Acceptance of a Gift of Tangible Personal Property Valued at $109,735.38 from the Coliseum Central Business Improvement District Pursuant to City Code § 2-134

 

Purpose

PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:

The Coliseum Central Business Improvement District has generously purchased and donated amenities for the Waterwalk at Central Park trail in the Coliseum Central district of the City. Those amenities include bike racks, garbage bins, dog waste stations, and benches to enhance the park and trail. The cost of those items is $109,735.38.

 

Discussion:

 

Amenities will enhance the user experience of the park and trail and allow opportunities to sit and enjoy the park.

 

Impact:

 

This donation supports the implementation of the Newmarket Creek Park & Trail System master plan (2007) and the Coliseum Central Master Plan (2015).

Body

                     WHEREAS, the Coliseum Central Business Improvement District has generously agreed to purchase and donate park amenities valued at $109,735.38 for the City of Hampton to be used for the Waterwalk at Central Park Trail;

 

                     WHEREAS, the amenities include bike racks, garbage bins, dog waste stations, and benches to provide places for citizens to enjoy the outdoor experience; and

                     

                     WHEREAS, acceptance of such donations by the City, pursuant to Hampton City Code §2-134, requires the approval of the Hampton City Council to the extent the amount or value of such gifts or donations is $5,000.00 or greater, and the City Manager seeks that approval, submitting that acceptance is in the best interest of the City.

 

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hampton, Virginia as follows:

 

                     1.                     That the donation from the Coliseum Central Business Improvement District of park amenities valued at $109,735.38 is accepted;

 

                     2.                     That the donation will be utilized for the Waterwalk at Central Park Trail as requested by the Coliseum Business Improvement District and as authorized by Hampton City Code § 2-134; and

 

                     3.                     That the conditions pertaining to this donation shall also be recorded in the council minutes as set forth in Hampton City Code §2 -134(a).
