Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
The Commonwealth Transportation Board approved, by Resolution, on May 16, 2018 the State of Good Repair district funding distribution percentages for fiscal years 2019 and 2020. Pursuant to Code of Virginia ยง 33.2-369, as amended, titled State of Good Repair, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) provides funding for reconstruction and replacement of structurally deficient state and locally owned bridges and rehabilitation of pavement including municipality maintained primary extensions. The City applied and was approved for State of Good Repair funding, and a total of $1,000,000 was allocated for six projects. The City was notified that funding would be received in July 2019 for the following projects and in the following amounts: Armistead Avenue Repaving Project - Newmarket Creek to I-64 Overpass ($76,000), Mercury Boulevard Repaving Project - Kilgore Avenue to Build America Drive ($133,000), North Armistead Avenue Repaving Project - Settlers Landing Road to Lincoln Street ($103,000), Fox Hill Road Repaving Project - Lake Philips Drive to Lemaster Avenue ($399,000), Magruder Boulevard Repaving Project - York County Line to Commander Shepard Boulevard ($91,000) and Kecoughtan Road Repaving Project - Cottonwood Avenue to Robinson Road ($198,000). These projects will enhance transportation within the City of Hampton. Once the allocations are accepted by the City, they are available immediately. VDOT has already assigned project numbers in anticipation of the City's approval of this request.
