Purpose
PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:
The Virginia 9-1-1 Services Board has awarded the FY22 Public Safety Answering Point ("PSAP") Education Program (Individual PEP) Grant in the amount of $3,000.00 to E-911 Emergency Communications. These grant funds will support the education and training of E-911 dispatchers to foster and enhance consistent knowledge of current and advancing E-911 and Geographic Information Systems public safety communications standards, issues, procedures, practices, technologies and other relevant matters.

Discussion:
The PSAP Education Program (Individual PEP) Grant will facilitate continuing education for emergency dispatchers by funding the cost of attendance for dispatchers to the annual conference of the Virginia National Emergency Number Association/Association of Public Safety Communications Officials. Any remaining funding will be allocated towards in-house emergency dispatch training to allow the continuation of knowledge and enhancement of skills and abilities relating to the services provided to the citizens of Hampton.

Impact:
The FY22 PSAP Education Program (Individual PEP) Grant will greatly improve the E-911 Emergency Communication's service to both citizens and other emergency personnel. The grant award is for $3,000.00 with no local cash or in-kind match required.
