Briefing on Mallory Street Road Eastbound I-64 Ramp Access

 

Purpose

PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:

On February 9, 2022, Council was briefed on possible pilot programs involving Mallory Street and Settlers Landing Road Eastbound Ramp Access.  This briefing will update Council on the proposed pilot program involving the Mallory Street ramp which will address congestion on city streets associated with I-64 construction projects.

 

Discussion:

 

Staff is recommending that a 60 day pilot program take place while continuing to evaluate options to reduce congestion created by the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel (HRBT) construction project.  Use of technology such as traffic signage, signals, and cameras, to enforce traffic violations will be explored.
