Potential I-64 Ramp Metering (Timed Gate Closures)

 

Purpose

PURPOSE/BACKGROUND:

The City of Hampton and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) are exploring the possibility of using ramp metering at the I-64 East Bound ramps off of North Mallory Street and Settlers Landing Road in relation to traffic congestion mitigation. A presentation by VDOT was made to Council at the August 11, 2021 Work Session. This is an opportunity for the public to offer comment on the proposal.

 

UPDATE FOR SEPTEMBER 22, 2021 LEGISLATIVE SESSION OF CITY COUNCIL:  This is the second opportunity for the public to offer comment on the proposal and it is anticipated that City Council will vote on the issue after this opportunity.
